iKON Social and News

is a place for latest IKON's social and news update

This space is dedicated to showcasing the work of artists and designers.

Our mission is to promote a holistic approach to art and design, bridging diverse traditions — from world art to world design. We aim to create a platform where creativity, culture, and innovation come together, encouraging dialogue between emerging and established artists. Through exhibitions, workshops, and interactive sessions, we seek to inspire new perspectives and nurture a deeper appreciation of visual expression. This initiative not only celebrates artistic talent but also connects communities by highlighting the universal language of art and design.

IKON Academy conducts workshops in schools where art and design awareness programs or classes are not available. These workshops introduce students to the world of art, graphic design, fashion, architecture, and other creative fields.

The sessions give students the opportunity to explore their talents and learn about exciting career opportunities in art and design.

This initiative is designed to inspire young minds to consider creative career paths and provide them with exposure they might not otherwise receive.

At IKON, we are dedicated to supporting students in their journey of growth, creativity, and building a future in creative careers.

Meet the Artist

Maqbool Fida Husain (17 September 1915 – 9 June 2011)[2] was a modern Indianpainter of international acclaim, and a founding member of Bombay Progressive Artists' Group.

Husain is associated with Indian modernism in the 1940s. His early association with the Bombay Progressive Artists' Group used modern technique, and was inspired by the "new" India after The Partition of 1947. His narrative paintings, executed in a modified Cubist style, can be caustic and funny as well as serious and sombre. His themes—sometimes treated in series—include topics as diverse as Mohandas K. GandhiMother Teresa, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the British raj, and motifs of Indian urban and rural life. Early in his painting career, and until his death, he enjoyed depicting the lively and free spirit of horses in many of his works.Husain is the most celebrated and internationally recognized Indian artist of the 20th century. Husain is primarily known for his paintings, but is also known for his drawings and his work as a printmaker, photographer, and filmmaker. Some of his later works stirred controversy, as they depicted traditional deities of India in non-traditional ways including nude portrayals of the deities.

He also directed a few movies. In 1967, he received the National Film Award for Best Experimental Film for Through the Eyes of a Painter.[3] In 2004, he directed Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities, a film he worked on with his artist son Owais Husain, which was screened in the Marché du film section of the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.

Meet the Designer

Paula Scher (born October 6, 1948) is a pioneering American graphic designer, painter, and design educator, celebrated as one of the most influential figures in contemporary graphic design. She studied at the Tyler School of Art in Pennsylvania, earning a BFA in 1970, and soon after moved to New York City to begin her career. Scher’s early work at CBS Records and Atlantic Records in the 1970s established her reputation, where she designed hundreds of iconic album covers annually, earning four Grammy Award nominations.

Influenced by Russian Constructivism and Art Deco, Scher brought new life to typography by reimagining historical typefaces in bold, modern contexts. In 1984, she co-founded the design firm Koppel and Scher, where her most famous work included the legendary Swatch poster, which became a cultural design icon of the 1980s.

Since joining Pentagram as a partner in 1991, Scher has shaped visual identities and branding for some of the world’s most prestigious institutions and brands, including The Museum of Modern Art, The New School, the Metropolitan Opera, the High Line, Shake Shack, Bloomberg, Microsoft, and the New York Philharmonic. Beyond corporate work, she has created landmark environmental graphics and large-scale public projects, helping to define the visual identity of modern New York City.

Over her decades-long career, Scher has combined fine art, design, and education, inspiring generations of designers with her fearless use of type and innovative visual language. Her legacy continues to influence branding, design systems, and visual culture worldwide.
